Hertziana App

The development of the Hertziana App, initiated in 2021, was completed in 2024 under the direction of Susanne Kubersky-Piredda and with financial support from the Department Weddigen. The app can be downloaded from all common platforms and is based on the software Viseum provided by the Swiss start-up company Aperion XR.

It enables visitors, fellows, and employees of the Bibliotheca Hertziana to immerse themselves in the history of the institute and to experience its rooms and artistic furnishings interactively by means of texts, audio and video files, and image recognition. The multilingual content (English, German, Italian) was entirely created by an international team of junior researchers, many of whom were engaged as interns. Working on the project has been an enriching experience for them and may prove useful in their future careers, especially if they plan to work as curators in the field of museum education.
