Hertziana Research Exhibitions

On the initiative of Susanne Kubersky-Piredda and with the financial support of the Department Weddigen, the ground floor of the historical institute building, decorated with frescoes by Federico Zuccari, was set up as an exhibition space in 2022.

The necessary equipment, including panels, lighting, and IT devices, has been gradually acquired. A set of display cases was donated by the Casa di Goethe.

The research exhibitions are intended to give Hertziana scholars the opportunity to explore innovative ways of presenting their research beyond traditional academic publishing. The curatorial experience they gain may furthermore be useful for their future careers. The exhibitions have the positive side effect of creating synergies between different departments of the Institute. In the first two years, eight exhibitions were conceived and set up and were open to both in-house scholars and the external public. Some of the shows have been transformed into permanent online exhibitions on our website.
