Regine Schallert

Among the statues featuring among the inhomogeneous decoration adorning the double tomb of Michiel-Orso in San Marcello al Corso in Rome, erected in 1523, that of St. Michael stands out in its extremely dynamic composition and pictorial conception. This figure, depicting St. Michael as the victor over a demon, has not yet been appreciated by researchers because of its position at a great height in a niche in the wall.
